As the fall semester gets underway, college students are reuniting with their friends, getting (re)acquainted with campus and doing what college students often do: partying. But in the time of the coronavirus, as more parties surface university administrators have been quick to condemn — and even berate — the... read more.  More News & Analysis

Broke Wife, Big City… Breakfast for Dinner: Recipe for Disaster
By Aprill Brandon

SCENE: A messy living room, littered with the dead bodies of an epic battle between the Naked Barbies Battalion and the Funko Pop Regiment. Two young children, a boy and a girl, ages 6 and 4 respectively, are dramatically lying on the floor among the ruins.  A Mother, late 30’s, comically full wine glass in

A Very Happy Mom...
A mom raved about the impact the After School Program has had on her fifth grader. Not only are her grades getting better, but her entire attitude toward academics – and her personality – has turned around. Mom said the arguments and fighting have become fewer and fewer. The student is starting to feel better about herself because she is seeing success in school.

Work in Progress...
A first grader who is considered by parent as “a work in progress” has improved in all areas. “Hopefully he will continue to do so with your help.” This is his second year in the Empowering program. Contact us a "Sign Up" at the top of this page.

Opportunity of a Lifetime...
“They (the students) impacted my life as much as I hope I did theirs. The best thing about doing this tutoring program is knowing that I may have helped a child increase their grade and to be proud of it. Being a part of Greenville's Empowering After School Tutoring Program was an opportunity of a lifetime.” Edison State Student

A Wonderful Experience...
“I enjoyed being there to help the children when they needed me. Seeing how happy they were when they finally figured out how to solve their math problems was great. It was a very wonderful experience." Edison State Student

WILL YOU HELP?

Edison State and High School students provide about one-third of our support to Empowering Students. We need Adult Volunteers and we need experienced finger-printed Supervisors.
