Two injured in
rear-end collision near Ansonia
Ansonia - On October 10, 2011 at approximately 3:15 p.m. Darke County
911 received a report of an injury accident on US127 at Brown Rd.
Darke County Deputies, along with Ansonia Fire and Rescue were
dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation revealed that a 2001 Chrysler 300, driven by
Linda Copeland (66) of Ansonia, was stopped on US127 waiting to make a
left turn onto Brown Rd. A 2003 Volvo semi, driven by Jason Scheer (38)
of Maria Stein, OH, was also northbound on US127. Scheer observed
Copeland stopped in the roadway, but could not get his vehicle stopped
and struck Copeland’s vehicle in the rear end causing Copeland’s
vehicle to spin around and off the left side of the road.
Copeland had to be extricated out of the vehicle by the Ansonia Fire
Department and Ansonia Rescue provided medical treatment for
Copeland. Copeland was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley
Hospital. Scheer was also treated and transported by Ansonia
Rescue to Coldwater Hospital.
At this time the condition of Copeland and Scheer are unknown.
This investigation continues by Darke County Deputies and charges are
pending after the investigation is completed.
