Single Vehicle
Fatal Accident near Arcanum
On August 4, 2012 at approximately 6:14 AM Darke County Deputies, along
with Arcanum Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 7400 block of
Grubbs-Rex Road in reference to a single vehicle serious injury
accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a black 1998 Chevy blazer driven by
Joseph S. Brandenburg Jr., 43, Arcanum Ohio was eastbound on Grubbs Rex
Road east of Albright Road. Brandenburg’s vehicle traveled across
the centerline and off the left side of the roadway striking a culvert
causing the vehicle to go air born. Brandenburg’s vehicle struck
a utility pole causing the vehicle to rollover, Brandenburg was ejected
from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed the accident happened on August 4, 2012 and went
undiscovered until daylight hours.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction team and the
Darke County Coroners Investigator also responded to the scene for
further investigation.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s
Office.
