Motorcyclist hits deer near Palestine 

Palestine- On May 13, 2012 at approximately 10:27 p.m. Darke County Deputies, along with Tri-Village Rescue and Liberty Township Fire, were dispatched to US36 and Hollansburg Tampico Rd in reference to a motorcycle/deer accident. 

Initial investigation revealed that a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Jason M. Keith (35) of Modoc, IN was eastbound on US36 when a deer ran across the road.  Keith’s motorcycle struck the deer causing Keith to lay his motorcycle down sliding off the northside of the road.  Keith was able to call 911 for assistance.  Keith was treated by Tri-Village Rescue.  Keith was transported to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office landing zone and was then airlifted by Samaritan One to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN. 

At this time Keith’s condition is unknown.
