State Representative Jim Buchy
Buchy Elected to Leadership Position in Oho House

COLUMBUS—State Representative Jim Buchy (R-Greenville) today was elected by members of the Ohio House Republican Caucus to join House leadership as the assistant majority whip for the 130th General Assembly beginning in January.

Rep. Buchy previously served as the assistant majority whip when he was a member of the Ohio House in the late 1990s. The role of the whip and assistant whip is to gauge support for legislation and policy within the House.

“I am honored to have been elected by my fellow representatives to serve the House in this capacity,” Rep. Buchy said. “I am prepared to work for the good of all Ohioans and to uphold the values and traditions of this fine institution.”

In addition to his new leadership role, Rep. Buchy will continue to serve as a member of his House committees and to serve his constituents in western Ohio. His focus on agriculture and small business will continue to guide his efforts to create more jobs in the district.

Rep. Buchy currently represents the 77th Ohio House District, which includes Mercer and Preble counties as well as portions of Darke County. While serving in the House from 1983 to 2000, he served in several leadership positions including assistant majority floor leader, majority whip and assistant majority whip. He is the president and CEO of Buchy Food Service in Greenville.
