NFRW Plays Significant Role at GOP Convention

Local Republican Leader Serves as Alternate Delegate for the State of Ohio

TAMPA, Fla. – A local Republican woman leader is among the hundreds of members of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) who served as delegates or alternates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Aug. 27-30.

Lyn Bliss of Greenville served as and Alternate Delegate. She is among the approximately 650 members of the NFRW who played a significant role in convention activities, including as delegates or alternate delegatess, as members of  key convention committees, as convention officers, and even as featured convention speakers.

“These conventions are a time for all of those attending to get to know their candidates, hear their life experiences, their ideas, their goals and vision for the future. It gives us all information to bring home to our friends and neighbors.  There are now thousands of citizens who know more about their candidates than they could ever have learned by reading about them. We have not only heard and seen them, we have also heard and seen those who have dealt with the candidate through life experiences.” Said  Bliss regarding the experience.

Bliss also attended daily morning breakfast events held for the Ohio delegation and various evening activities, including a beach party, harbor cruise, and an evening dinner/dance.

Bliss is First Vice-president of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women (OFRW), serves on the Legislative Committee and is a board member for the National Federation of Republican Women.

Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in several U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
