Mercer crash claims one life

Celina, OH - Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports his Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash.  Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1call on August 25 at 3:31 A.M. of a crash on US 33 west of Lombard Road in Dublin Township.
 
A maroon colored 2002 Jeep Liberty was west bound on US 33. The Jeep left the north side of the roadway for an unknown reason.  The vehicle traveled through the side ditch and struck a tree.  After striking the first tree the Jeep rotated and struck a second tree coming to rest facing east bound.  After coming to rest the vehicle burst into flames. 

There were two occupants in the vehicle. Justin M. Hamrick, and Eddy P. Blossom.  Justin M Hamrick, age 25, of Rockford, Ohio, was pronounced dead on the scene. Eddy P. Blossom, age 28, also of Rockford, was transported to Joint Township Hospital in St. Mary’s, then later transported by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
 
Deputies were assisted on scene by Rockford Fire Department, Rockford Squad 4, and MCERV.
