Darke County crews fight four blazes in 48 hours
By Breaking News Staff

DARKE CO. — Fire crews in Darke County have had an exhausting weekend.

Four blazes spanned the county since Saturday morning, with houses and barns being damaged.

Fire fighters were on scene at two blazes simultaneously on Sunday evening.

Around 6:47 p.m., crews in Versailles and Russia were called to a barn fire in the 12000 block of Willowdell Road. Just minutes later, Liberty Township crews were called to an active barn fire in the 5000 block of Smith Road.

As of 9 p.m., fire fighters were still on scene at both of those blazes.

On Saturday at approximately 3:30 a.m., Liberty Township crews were dispatched to a blaze in the 5600 block of Hillgrove Southern Road where three structures were burning. A barn, house and garage were on fire and animals were reportedly in danger.

Early Sunday, approximately 50 fire fighters were called to the 3400 block of state route 571 on a fully-engulfed house fire. 10 different fire departments were represented at that blaze, that started at about 2:30 a.m.

Luckily, no injuries were reported in any of the blazes.
