CareFlight
called to motorcycle, SUV accident
On June 2, 2013 at approximately 2:42 PM Darke County Deputies along
with Arcanum Rescue, Pitsburg Fire and CareFlight were dispatched to
the intersection of State Route 49 and Oakes Road in reference to an
injury accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle
driven by, James R. Clevenger, 61, Lewisburg Ohio was northbound on
State Route 49 at Oakes Road. A southbound 2006 Jeep Commander
driven by, Sherri L. Wright, 49, Arcanum Ohio was stopped on State
Route 49 at Oakes Road waiting to make a left turn. Wright failed
to yield turning into the path of Clevenger. Clevenger struck
Wright's vehicle causing him to lose control of the motorcycle.
Clevenger then traveled off the right side of the roadway and was
ejected from the motorcycle. Clevenger was not wearing a helmet
at the time of the accident and was the only occupant on the
motorcycle.
Clevenger was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.
Clevenger is listed in stable condition at this time.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s
Office.
