Fatal accident
takes life of Maria Stein woman
CELINA, OH – Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports his office is
investigating a fatal traffic crash. Mercer County 9-1-1 received
several calls at 5:39 PM advising of a crash at the intersection of
State Route 29 and State Route 118 (North).
The investigation revealed that Michelle R. Bruns, age 36, of 2243
State Route 716 Maria Stein, Ohio, was driving a 2010 Lexus southbound
on State Route 118. Thomas L. Sims Jr., age 36, of 6123
East 26th Street Indianapolis, Indiana, was driving a 2005 Freightliner
semi-tractor and trailer west bound on State Route 29.
Brun’s vehicle traveled through the posted stop sign and collided with
the semi-tractor trailer. Bruns’s vehicle became lodged under the
tractor trailer and was dragged west of the intersection. Both
vehicles came to rest on State Route 29, west of the intersection.
Thomas Sims was not injured in the crash. Bruns was pronounced dead on
the scene.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Celina Fire Department,
Motor Carrier Enforcement Division, and Mercer County Emergency
Response Volunteers.
