Attorney General Mike DeWine
Ohio Unsolved Homicides: Sheronda Norris

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) -- As part of his Ohio Unsolved Homicides Initiative, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is asking for information regarding the 1991 murder of a woman in Franklin County.

A passing motorist discovered the body of Sheronda Norris on September 16, 1991, on the side of Agler Road, just east of Sunbury Road. According to family, she was last seen alive the previous day, when she was reportedly going to her aunt's house on East 23rd Avenue in Columbus, but never arrived.

Investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office are continuing their efforts to locate anyone who may have information regarding this murder. Detectives would like to speak with anyone who may have any information on this case, including anyone who had contact with the victim prior to her death.

"We urge anyone who knows anything about this case to contact detectives with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office so that they can identify this woman's killer," said Attorney General DeWine. "A detail that may have seemed insignificant at the time may be exactly what authorities need to close the case."

Although it has been 22 years since this horrific tragedy occurred, we will continue to work on serving justice for the Norris family," said Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott. "Any information from the public is appreciated, and we encourage anyone with information to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office or BCI.”

Detectives with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office can be reached at 614-525-3333.

Attorney General DeWine’s Ohio Unsolved Homicides Initiative was developed in September 2012 in an effort to create a statewide database of the approximately 5,000 unsolved killings in the state. So far, law enforcement agencies have submitted 1,818 unsolved homicide cases to the database.

The goal of the initiative is to bring widespread visibility to cases, increase the possibility for tips, and help jurisdictions compare details of unsolved crimes.

Those with information on this or any other unsolved homicide can also contact the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at 855-BCI-OHIO or submit a tip through the Ohio Attorney General's website.
