Mercer County
traffic fatality
Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports his office is investigating a
fatal traffic crash. Mercer County dispatch received several
9-1-1 calls at 6:08 am this morning of a crash at State Route 29 and
State Route 118 (north).
A 2011 Freightliner semi tractor and trailer was south bound on 118 and
failed to stop for the stop sign. The semi was driven by Robert
Riley age 54 of 19882 Road 21 Fort Jennings, Ohio.
A 2002 Hyundai was east bound on State Route 29 and struck the semi
trailer. The Hyundia was driven by Ronald Albers age 56 of 7385 East
500 North Portland, Indiana. Mr. Albers was pronounced dead at the scene.
After striking the semi trailer the Hyundai struck a 2007 Toyota truck
that was stopped at the stop sign at Burkettsvile-St. Henry road.
The 2007 Toyota was driven by Abraham Timmerman age 39 from 4236
Erastus Durbin Road Fort Recovery Ohio.
The crash remains under investigation.
