Accidental Shooting

On October 10, 2013 at approximately 12:16 p.m., Darke County Deputies along with Arcanum Rescue were dispatched to 112 Harrison Street in reference to a subject with a gunshot wound to the leg.
     
Preliminary investigation revealed Constance I. Bayless, 54 of Pitsburg, Ohio was walking with her husband James Bayless down Harrison Street in Pitsburg. James who is an avid CCW holder, adjusted his pants while walking and the firearm dropped out of his pants pocket. The firearm struck the pavement causing the weapon to discharge. The discharged round struck Constance in the leg. Constance was transported to Wayne Healthcare where she is currently undergoing surgery and listed in stable condition. 

This incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
