Beagle, Testa Present Check to Local Business
Dayton Body Shop Receives Tax Overpayment Refund

COLUMBUS – State Senator Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) and Tax Commissioner Joe Testa today presented a tax refund check to Carl’s Body Shop in Dayton, an action made possible by Senate Bill 263.

“Carl’s Body Shop is a perfect example of a small business that this legislation aimed to help; these tax overpayments belong in our economy, not in the state treasury,” Beagle said. “I’m proud to give this money back to this hardworking Ohio business.”

Sen. Beagle, along with Sen. Bob Peterson (R-Sabina), introduced S.B. 263 in early 2014 after Ohio Inspector General Randall Meyer issued an investigative report that found that the Ohio Department of Taxation failed to refund more than $30 million in state taxes overpaid by businesses and often ignored requests for refunds. The bill, signed into law this past June by Gov. Kasich, now requires these refunds to happen automatically.
