Mercer deputy saves suspect with NARCAN

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported that his office has its first save with NARCAN. At 4:23 PM a citizen stopped a deputy and reported a man slumped over the wheel in a car at the fair.

Deputies located the car and found a man not breathing, with a syringe on his lap. Deputies extricated him from the car. After a quick examination, Detective Sgt Timmerman administered one dose of NARCAN to the subject. EMS units were called. The subject responded to the NARCAN with in about 10 seconds.

EMS transported the subject to Mercer Health. "This is why it is important that we have this tool," stated Sheriff Grey. "Once the individual is released from medical treatment, he will be transported to jail and charged with drug possession.
