571 accident
updated to fatality
On December 2, 2014 at approximately 7:37 AM Darke County Deputies
along with Greenville City Fire, Greenville Township Fire, Greenville
Township Rescue, Union City Rescue and Care Flight were dispatched to
the 3600 Block of State Route 571 West near White Springs Golf Course
in reference to a serious injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by
Samantha K. Christie, 24, West Chester, Ohio was westbound on State
Route 571 west of Woodlane Drive. Christie lost control of her vehicle
on the ice covered roadway causing her to travel left of the center
line into oncoming traffic. Christie's vehicle collided with the
eastbound 1988 red Chevy truck, driven by Dylan L. Burge, 18, Union
City, Indiana. A black 2013 Chevy Malibu, driven by Tonya Woodworth,
37, Greenville, Ohio was traveling eastbound behind Burge's vehicle.
Woodworth attempted to avoid the collision however, collided with
Christie's vehicle.
Christie was transported to Wayne Health Care by Greenville Township
Rescue and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital for further
evaluation, condition unknown. Burge was airlifted to Miami Valley
Hospital by Care Flight where he is listed in critical condition.
Woodworth was not injured.
The Darke County Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction team also
responded to the scene for further investigation.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's
Office.
On December 3, 2014 the Darke County Sheriff's Office was contacted by
the Montgomery County Coroner's Office advising that on December 3,
2014 at 12:01 a.m. Dylan Burge (18) of Union City, IN had succumbed to
his injuries from the auto accident while at Miami Valley Hospital.
