Congratulates 8th District Military Service Academy Nominees
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today
congratulated the 8th District’s 2014 Military Service Academy
nominees. The nominees were recognized by Rep. Boehner in a
ceremony held on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Savannah Center in
West Chester. Below is the complete list of this year’s nominees.
“These young men and women are among Southwest Ohio’s best and
brightest,” Boehner said. “They are proven leaders with a wide
variety of academic, extracurricular, and athletic achievements, and
their willingness to serve our country is a tremendous act of
selflessness. Nominating these students to our nation’s service
academies is one of my highest honors as the U.S. Representative for
our local area.”
Rep. Boehner is nominating 16 men and women to the nation’s service
academies. There are five service academies: The United States
Air Force Academy (USAFA), United States Naval Academy (USNA), United
States Military Academy (USMA), United States Merchant Marine Academy
(USMMA), and United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA).
To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, an applicant
must meet the eligibility requirements established by law and be
nominated from an authorized person including a Member of the United
States Senate or the House of Representatives. Rep. Boehner may
nominate applicants who are legally domiciled within the boundaries of
Ohio’s 8th Congressional District.
