Corporation Expands International Business
Taking sole ownership of India-based Janak Healthcare Private Limited
DAYTON, Ohio, December 11, 2014 — Midmark Corporation today announced
that it has completed negotiations with Janak Healthcare Private
Limited, a market-leading healthcare manufacturer located in Mumbai,
India. After a partnership of more than six years, Midmark will take
sole ownership of Janak, expanding its international business in
quality healthcare products and services for more efficient and
effective patient care.
Janak, headquartered in Mumbai, India, was formed in 1951 as Metalbeds
India Private Limited to develop and manufacture standard hospital
furniture. It now offers a complete portfolio of patient care
equipment, including hospital beds, surgical lighting and home care
beds. Midmark began its partnership with Janak in December 2008,
acquiring a minority equity position in the company. In 2010, Midmark
increased its equity share in Janak, becoming the majority shareholder.
“As the world continues to get ‘flatter,’ Midmark will continue to look
for targeted opportunities in the global healthcare market where we
feel we can really make a difference,” said Anne Eiting Klamar, M.D.,
Midmark president and CEO. “Over the past five years, we have learned a
great deal about the Indian healthcare market from our partnership with
Janak. We were able to bring our process and intellectual property
expertise to Janak while allowing the local management to do what they
do best – create and execute strategies that are pertinent to India,
resulting in improved business performance.” Klamar continued,
“Moving forward, we will continue to work with local management to
produce and supply quality products and services to healthcare
providers.”
