Ballot Board Approves Language for 2014 May Primary Statewide Issue
Ohio Public Works Ballot Issue to be State Issue 1 and only statewide issue voters will consider in May.

COLUMBUS –Secretary of State Jon Husted and members of the Ohio Ballot Board today approved ballot language for the statewide bond issue appearing on the 2014 May Primary ballot. The language, as well as the approved explanation and arguments for and against the issue, are available online via the link below:

Issue 1: To Fund Public Infrastructure Capital Improvements by Permitting the Issuance of General Obligation Bonds

The constitutional amendment will be put before voters as a result of the General Assembly’s passage of Senate Joint Resolution 6.

The Board also, as required by Ohio Revised Code 3505.062, directed the means by which the Secretary of State will disseminate information concerning the proposed constitutional amendment to the voters, and directed the Secretary to contract for the publication in a newspaper of general circulation in each county in the state of the ballot language, explanation, and arguments regarding the proposed constitutional amendment.

Secretary Husted serves as chair of the Ballot Board and oversees the board’s proceedings. Other members of the Ballot Board include: State Senator Bill Coley; State Senator Nina Turner; Mark Griffin; and William N. Morgan. Ballot Board meetings are open to the public.
