U.S.
Senator Sherrod Brown
New
Funding for Chauncey Head Start
This
week, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced new federal funds
to support Head Start programs run by Athens-Meigs Educational
Service Center, headquartered in Chauncey. The funds were awarded by
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“This
is excellent news for Southeast Ohio families and their children,”
Sen. Brown said. “Head Start ensures that children have the skills
they need to succeed in elementary school and beyond.”
Head
Start is a federal program that provides children, until the age of
five, from low-income families with programming to prepare them for
school. These programs, including health, nutrition, and social
services, are designed to ensure their healthy cognitive, social, and
emotional development.
