State drops weapons charge in return for plea

GREENVILLE – Jason L. Hunt pleaded guilty to Aggravated Burglary, a Felony 1 charge, in Darke County Common Pleas Court May 28. In return for the plea Darke County Prosecutor Kelly R. Ormsby said the state is dropping the firearms specification. Common Pleas Judge Jonathan Hein accepted the plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

Ormsby recommended a prison term of four years. Hunt could receive up to 11 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Hein advised Hunt neither amount was mandatory.

The defendant has been out on $10,000 bond following his Jan. 14 arraignment. He is charged with forced entry into a residence in New Madison, allegedly pointing a small handgun at a female victim’s head and threatening to kill her. The bond, originally set at $50,000, carried with it electronic house arrest and no contact with the four individuals who were in the residence at the time. Ormsby said the State does not object to bond being continued while awaiting sentencing...
