$10,000 reward sparks renewed interest in double murder

Renewed interest has been sparked in a double murder occurring 17 years ago by the brother of one of the victims. He hopes bumping a $1,000 reward by the Darke County Crime Stoppers to $10,000 with $9,000 of his own will bring forth the evidence needed to convict the offender.

The Greenville Police Department continue to investigate a double murder that occurred Feb. 23, 1997 in Greenville. The bodies of Kimberly Stephan, 33, and Dennis Young, 55, were found shot to death in a house on the 1300 block of Chippewa Drive.

Police say a person of interest has been questioned but never charged with the homicide. Anyone with information regarding this horrible crime is encouraged to contact Detective Eric Roberts at the Greenville Police Department by calling 937-548-4150.

$10,000 Cash Reward: $1,000 offered from Crime Stoppers, $9,000 from the Dennis Young family.

Double Murder Cold Case Sees New Interest

GREENVILLE -- A cold case double murder could be heating up after 17 years. Denny Young and Kimberly Stephan were shot and killed in February 1997 on Chippewa Street in Greenville, and now Young's brother is trying to spark renewed interest in the case by increasing the reward money to $10,000.

Young's brother Stephen is also working with Darke County Crime Stoppers to come up with a new way to catch the killer.

"It's a memory you'll never forget especially being a brother," said Setphen Young standing on the street where the crime happened. He remembers the murders like it was yesterday.

"He just shot her... but Denny, he did a number on him," Young said. He hadn't been back to the scene of the crime in 13 years, but after all that time he wants to offer more money and renew interest in the case because he believes he knows who killed his brother Denny, and Kimberly.

"Ninety-nine percent sure we know who did it," Young said. "Just gotta get enough evidence to put him behind bars. I just think every day that person that did it he knows who he is, he has lived a good life for 17 years and my brother's laid dead. So its time for something to be done with him."

"We have a lot of local Facebook pages and groups that actually like to talk all day long about everything that goes on," said Clinton Randall, President of Darke County Crime Stoppers. Randall said that's the Crime Stopper's new goal for the case; get people talking again.

"There are some leads that have come out of the talking," Randall said.
