School bus involved in accident at Hogpath
and Gordon-Landis Roads
On April 17, 2015 at approximately 2:49 p.m. Darke County Deputies,
Arcanum Rescue and Arcanum Fire were dispatched to Hogpath Road and
Gordon Landis Road in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a yellow 2015 Blue Bird Franklin
Monroe school bus driven by Paul Peters, 67, of Arcanum, Ohio was
stopped northbound on Gordon Landis Road at the posted stop sign at
Hogpath Road. Peters failed to yield after a stop sign traveling
into the path of a westbound white 2008 Nissan Ultima driven by 16 year
old female of Greenville, Ohio.
The white Nissan struck the school bus in the right front. There
were 12 juvenile passengers aboard the school bus with no injuries
reported. There was one male passenger in the Nissan Ultima with no
injury reported. The 16 year old was transported to Wayne Healthcare by
Arcanum Rescue where she was treated and released.
Investigation revealed Paul Peters failed to yield after a clearly
marked stop sign, Peters was issued a citation.
