Injury accidents Mercer County

On yesterday’s date, the Celina Police Department investigated two injury traffic crashes.  The first was at about 1:48 PM on N. Main St. at W. Forest St.  Seventeen year old Zachary Bigelow of Celina was northbound on Main St. near Forest St. when he turned the 1999 Honda Passport he was driving left to enter Forest St.  He entered the path of a southbound 2012 Ford Focus driven by 24 year old Shelby Woods, also of Celina.

The Wood’s vehicle struck the right side of the Bigelow vehicle as it turned, causing the Bigelow vehicle to flip onto its left side.  Bigelow was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Both cars were heavily damaged.  Charges are pending.

The second crash occurred at 4:20 PM on W. Logan St. near S. Sugar St.  A 2014 Honda Pilot was driven by 19 year old Chase Bruggeman of Celina.  As he travelled eastbound he drifted left of center and struck the left side dual rear tires of a semi-tractor and sideswiped the length of the left side of the trailer and impacted the left rear duals of the trailer before disengaging from the trailer.

The semi was a 2015 Volvo driven by Christopher Townsend of Muncie, Indiana.  Townsend was unhurt and Bruggeman had apparent minor injuries, but was taken for treatment by private vehicle.  The Honda was heavily damaged and the tractor-trailer had light to moderate damage.  Bruggeman was cited for failure to drive on the right side of the road.
