Injury accident
on Weavers Ft. Jefferson Road
On January 9, 2015 at approximately 5:50 am Darke County Deputies along
with Liberty Township Fire, Tri-Village Rescue, New Madison Fire and
CareFlight were dispatched to the 1300 block of Weavers Ft. Jefferson
Road in reference to a single vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette
driven by Gwendolyn D. Miles, 54, New Madison Ohio was eastbound on
Weavers Ft. Jefferson Road in the 1300 block. Miles lost control of her
vehicle in the drifted snow and traveled off the right side of the
roadway striking a tree, trapping her in the vehicle. Miles was trapped
in her vehicle for approximately 46 minutes before being extricated by
mechanical means.
Miles was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where she is
listed in fair condition.
The Darke County Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone to use
extreme caution when driving in blowing and drifting snow covered
roadways, as it creates hazardous conditions.
