Praise Fuyao Expansion, 750 New Miami Valley Jobs
COLUMBUS–Senators Peggy Lehner (R–Kettering) and Bill Beagle (R–Tipp
City) today joined Ohio Governor John Kasich in announcing the
expansion of the Fuyao North American Glass Company project in Moraine,
Ohio. Fuyao has chosen the Moraine site to invest an additional $130
million and add 750 more jobs.
Lehner and Beagle joined Kasich for the announcement with company
executives this afternoon in the governor’s ceremonial office in the
Ohio Statehouse.
“Four years ago, the General Motors plant in Moraine was a local
reminder of how the national recession had impacted our community,”
said Lehner. “A year ago, we got a glimmer of hope when Fuyao chose our
region to host its North American expansion and today, we’ve renewed
that hope as the project is garnering more investment, more attention,
and has far exceeded our job creation expectations.”
The expansion will make Moraine home to the company’s North American
after-market automotive glass manufacturing operation, which will
produce 4 million units of glass per year for the North American market.
“It is great to see a company come into the Miami Valley and begin
investing again in our workers and facilities,” said Beagle. “Fuyao,
like many companies around the globe, has found an asset in Ohio’s
strong workforce and ever improving business climate, two attributes
that are essential in moving our state’s economy forward.”
In January 2013, Fuyao chose Moraine as the site of its new automotive
glass manufacturing facility. That announcement came with the promise
of more than $200 million of investment and 800 new jobs. Today’s $170
million investment and commitment of 750 jobs is in addition to the
2013 commitments.
Fuyao’s Moraine facility stands as the largest Chinese investment ever
made in Ohio. Fuyao is the largest automotive glass supplier in China,
holding 65 percent of the Chinese market and 18 percent of the market
globally. Headquartered in Fuzhou, China, Fuyao employs more than
18,000 workers globally.
With today’s announcement, Fuyao has committed a total of 1,550 new
jobs and $360 million in total capital investment in the Moraine
facility.
