Robinson retiring, but has no plans to stop working

GREENVILLE – For nearly 50 years, Bob Robinson has been providing the general public with news, information, opinion and entertainment via newspapers, magazines and television. That chapter in his life came to a close at the end of January when he put his reporter’s notebook away for what could be the final time. After hassling local government officials for the past 13 years in Greenville, exposing hidden truths, being a champion for the young, and sharing his opinion with any that would listen, Robinson announced he is retiring from The Early Bird/Bluebag Media.

Robinson’s career began while he was a student at Texas A&M. The proud Aggie earned a degree in journalism and immediately put his knowledge to work at the university in the public information department.

In 1975, Robinson headed west to California and admittedly spent the next 25 years trying to leave the Golden State.

It wasn’t until 2001 that he was able to find his way to the Midwest. He began working for a magazine in the Ann Arbor area and even though he was able to help turn the publication around in six months time, his employment was short term. “It turned out I was too conservative for the owner,” said Robinson. “I didn’t like Michigan all that much...
