Man sustains
accidental gunshot wound to leg
On October 23, 2016 at 3:45 A.M., the Darke County 911 Center received
a 911 call in reference to a man with a gunshot wound to his leg in the
yard located 3652 US Route127 South. Darke County deputies and
investigative division along with New Madison Fire Department and
Tri-Village Rescue responded to the scene.
Tyler L. Minton (29) of Verona, Ohio sustained a single gunshot wound
to his right thigh. Mr. Minton was treated at the scene for his injury
and airlifted by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital for further
treatment. At that time, his condition was listed as stable. Mr.
Minton was discharged from Miami Valley Hospital later that day.
Based upon multiple witness statements and the physical evidence at the
scene, the investigation revealed the injury appeared to be the result
of an accidental discharge by the victim with his own firearm.
Alcohol can not be ruled out as a factor.
This incident remains under investigation.
