Empowering program seeks assistant coordinator, tutors

Empowering Darke County Youth is seeking an assistant program coordinator, as well as two licensed or experienced tutors, to assist with its After School and Summer Tutoring Programs.

“We’ve had tremendous support from the community, but the demand for help still exceeded our ability to provide it,” said program coordinator Bob Robinson. “We’re now in a position to bring in three experienced educators to improve the delivery of our services and hopefully reach more students.”

The After School Program had 89 requests for help during the original sign-up in October, 10 more than had been helped the entire previous year. Currently 65 students are enrolled, with another 35 on a waiting list.

“Bringing in experienced people will help us more specifically target individual needs and anticipate the best way to support the efforts of the students’ teachers,” Robinson added. “The teacher leads the child’s learning experience; our job is to provide help to the children who still need more support.”

Eric Fee, president, Robinson, and Empowering Darke County Youth’s Board of Directors wish to thank the community for its support. Empowering is a United Way Partner Agency and continued donations and grants from local organizations and businesses have made the additional resources possible.

Interested individuals may email empoweringdarkecountyyouth@gmail.com, query on the Empowering Darke County Youth Facebook page, or request information at P.O. Box 1113, Greenville, Ohio 45331.

The Empowering Mission: Empowering Darke County Youth provides After School and Summer Tutoring programs to assist students in the areas of language arts and math with the goal of Strong Students for a Strong Community.
