County fair just a stepping stone for Rockwood

GREENVILLE- Trisha Rockwood was elated to win the Keyhole Junior Competition.  A five year member of Greenville Rangers, she has ridden horses for five years.

Rockwood has been participating in the Keyhole Competition since her first year.  She participates in all contesting along with Jumping and Ranch.  "Barrels are my favorite of everything I compete in" she said.

Rockwood's advice to anyone wanting to participate in contesting is  "be ready for the ride."

A Palomino Quarter Horse named 'Maddy' is her partner in crime. The two become one once they step into the arena.

Rockwood is the first and only one in her family to participate in 4-H and ride horses.

When not in the arena with Maddy she is an Ansonia freshman, just 14 years old. She enjoys track and basketball.

This will be her first year participating in IBRA which stands for International Barrel Racing Association.  At this age level most of the competitions  are held locally but that will change as she grows older.

Rockwood's dreams of Barrel Racing far exceed the Great Darke County Fair.

Let's wish this young girl good luck as she follows her dreams and remembers her hometown of Ansonia.
