“Elevate Your Education” with Edison State’s Virtual Information Series

Edison State Community College will be hosting a virtual information series entitled “Elevate Your Education,” which will cover various topics related to the college planning process. The sessions are free and open to the community and will be hosted online via Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in October and November.

The series will kick-off with “Preparing for Your Transition to College” on Monday, October 26.  This session will provide helpful tips to students to prepare for the transition from high school to college. Advisors will also discuss general information about college admission processes, financial aid, and finding the career pathway best suited for your educational goals.

For those interested in using higher education as a pathway to a rewarding career, the session entitled “Understanding the Local Workforce and Career Resources” will be held on Monday, November 9. Session leaders will discuss ways to maximize your educational investment, understand local workforce needs, labor market statistics, and available career resources.

On Wednesday, November 11, the session entitled “Ways to Earn College Credit in High School” will help high school students optimize their high school experience and get a head start on college. The session will cover Advanced Placement courses, College Credit Plus, Career Tech articulation credits, and Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAG’s).

The series also features sessions lead by advisors from each career pathway, which will focus on degrees, certificates, and short-term technical certificates available at Edison State. Listen to advisors, faculty, and local business representatives as they give an in-depth look at individual programs as well as related career outlooks.

The featured career pathway sessions are Social and Public Services Pathways on Wednesday, October 28; Engineering and Manufacturing Pathways on Wednesday, November 4; University Transfer Pathways on Monday, November 16; Health Science Pathways on Wednesday, November 18; and Business and Information Technology Pathways on Monday, November 23.

A session will be available for students and the community to learn more about Edison State’s regional campus locations in Greenville, Eaton, and Troy on Monday, November 2. During the session, “Exploring Regional Campuses,” classes, certificates, degrees, and services are offered at each location will be discussed.
