Kaysa Joanne (Anderson) (McAdams) Meeks

Kaysa Joanne (Anderson) (McAdams) Meeks, was born April 10, 1938 and gained her angel wings on July 1, 2011.  She spent her final days at home surrounded by family and friends whose lives were enriched just by knowing and loving her.  She grew up in Hartford City, IN and attended Ball State University.  She was married to Larry McAdams from 1963 to 1980 and lived in Tipp City, OH until 1988.  She worked for DAP Inc. and simultaneously received her MBA from the University of Dayton.  After graduation, she was promoted to production manager for DAP and relocated to Chicago, IL.  She then worked for Bethany Seminary and relocated with the seminary to Richmond, IN until retirement.  On January 12, 2002, she married her forever-soulmate, Dan Meeks and resided with him in Greenville, OH.  She was a long time member of the Middle District Church of the Brethren (Good Shepherd) and Oakland COB.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alberta Anderson, and sister, Gwen Lightle.  She is survived by her husband, Dan Meeks; daughter-Pam McAdams-Belgar of Brookville, OH; son-Tim McAdams of San Francisco, CA; stepdaughters-Jenni (Rick) Phillips and Jane (Paul) Combs of Brookville, OH; grandchildren-Brandon, Joshua, Cody, Nicholas, Ryan, Jasmine, Aleah, Marissa, Chloe, and Mason for whom she was a model grandmother; and extended family:  Ron and Bert McAdams and their children-Kevin, Lee and Mindy and Esther Clark.

She wrote “although I joined the church at ten and tried to be the kind of person I thought God wanted me to be, it was in the 1990’s  that a woman who I considered a Christian role model taught me that bad things don’t just happen to ‘bad people’ but ‘good people’—people who have God centered lives experience bad things, too.  But there is a big difference in how the two groups handle the bad things.”  She showed us all the true meaning of grace in her long, painful struggle against uterine cancer for 2 1/2 years.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 1:30 PM at the Oakland Church of the Brethren, 8058 Horatio Harris Creek Road, Bradford, OH.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to:  Emmaus Community of Darke County, PO Box 482, Greenville, OH 45331; Oakland Church of the Brethren, PO Box 198, Gettysburg, OH 45328; or State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 North Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
