Samuel David Mikesell

Samuel David Mikesell, age 63 of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Monday June 20, 2011 at 9:35 AM at his residence.  He was born February 20, 1948 in the family home on Harrison Road, New Madison, Ohio the son of the late Lewis Ellsworth “Dynamite” & Irma Irene (Spencer) Mikesell.  He worked for Shellar Globe in Union City for 25 years and also for Transilwrap in Richmond, Indiana.  He loved to fish, gardening, and hunting and loved nature.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Brothers:  Bradley, Harvey Lloyd, Larry, and Joe Mikesell.

He is survived by his wife:  Linda “Wendy” (Thrash) Mikesell of New Madison, Ohio; Sons & daughter in law:  Jonathan Edward Mikesell of Greenville, Anthony David & Michelle Mikesell of Arcanum, Ohio; daughter & son in law:  Kimberly Ann (Mikesell) & Stephen Chowning of New Madison, Ohio; Grandsons:  Derrick & Kaleb Chowning, Tyler Mikesell; granddaughters:  Lydia, Myra & Kayla Mikesell, Atasha Mikesell, Keele Shelton, Halli Mikesell Carpenter, Abigail Mikesell; Great granddaughter: StarAnna;  Sisters & brothers in law:  Martha Jane Herron of Wayne Lakes, Donna Joann & Bill Brubaker of Wayne Lakes, Carolyn & Bill Hankins of Union City, Ohio, Ellen & Ralph Snyder of Greenville, Kathy & Don Tackitt of Northport, Florida; Brothers & sisters in law:  Thomas & Joyce Mikesell of Ansonia, Don & Charlene Mikesell of Greenville, Terry Mikesell of Auburn, Maine; & numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Friday June 24, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren 373 Love Road New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Tony Price officiating.  Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery, Hollansburg, Ohio.  Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday June 23, 2011 at the church.  Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be given to Cedar Grove Youth Ministry or Cancer Association of Darke County.
