Shirley D. Poeppelman

Shirley D. Poeppelman age 85 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Sterling House in Greenville. Shirley was born July 16, 1925 in Syracuse, New York, to the late Winfield W. & Hazel A. (Goldie) Dodd.

    Shirley was retired from Travelers Insurance Company; where she had been an office manager for 40 years. Shirley was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

    In addition to her parents, Shirley is also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F. Poeppelman on March 17, 2009 whom she married June 18, 1994; son, Gordon A. Root; grandson, Brett Root; and step granddaughters, Sydney Poeppelman and Brittany Kimmel.

    Shirley is survived by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Root of Jordan, New York; step sons & daughters-in-law, Kevin & Amy Poeppelman of Clarksburg, Maryland, James & Julie Poeppelman of Versailles, John & Annette Poeppelman of Stuart, Florida, and Fred & Stacy Poeppelman of Versailles; step daughters & sons-in-law, Ann & Sam Robinson of Huber Heights, Jean & Marty Tomasic of West Chester, Janet & Dr. Craig Gardner of Oakbrook, Illinois, Mary & Hayden Roush of Versailles, Amy & Pastor Steve Harman of Yorkshire, Karen & Dan Borchers of Versailles, Lisa & Karl Burk of Greenville and Julie & Kent Kimmel of Ansonia; 3 grandchildren, 30 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren; and a sister & brother-in-law, Dorothea & John B. Woolverton of Ft. Meyers, Florida.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 8:30 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
