Cecilia Ann Barhorst

Mrs. Cecilia Ann Barhorst, age 87, of Russia, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:56 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.  She was born on September 7, 1923 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Felix & Agnes (Francis) Monnin.

    Cecilia worked part time at Russia School for 11 years.  She was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Sodality at St. Remy.  She loved making angel food cakes and homemade noodles.  She also cooked for many weddings in the area. 

    In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Barhorst; Son, John Barhorst; brothers, LeRoy, Forrest, Forrest, Homer, and Henry Monnin; sister, Florence Gigandet.

    She is survived by her children and spouses, Lawrence & Doris Barhorst of Russia, Ohio, Robert & Deb Barhorst of Minster, Ohio, Diane & Tim McKee of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James & Norma Barhorst of Minster, Ohio, Eugene & Linda Barhorst of Minster, Ohio, Thomas & Lori Barhorst of Russia, Ohio, and Elaine & Jim Barlage of Russia, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Joseph Monnin of Sidney, Ohio, Bertha McEldowney of Versailles, Ohio, Eleanor Grillot of Webster, Ohio, Loretta Bey of Versailles, Ohio, and Mary Louise Curtin of Chicago, Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Remy Catholic Church, 108 West Main, Russia, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Frank Amberger celebrant.  Burial will follow in the St. Remy Church Cemetery, Russia, Ohio.  Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 3-7 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio, as well as on Monday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home.
