Dorothy Mary “Champ” Monnier

Dorothy Mary “Champ” Monnier, age 79, of Russia, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2:20 AM at Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio.  She was born on December 20, 1931 in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late Leo J. & Judith (Didier) Monnier.

Champ worked at Poultry Producers in Versailles and Clopay in Russia.  She was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia, Ohio, where she opened the church every morning for 31 years.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Marcus Monnier; sisters, Juanita M. Booher, Antonitte Koverman, Adele Kloth, and Julie Romie.

She is survived by her brother, Edward Monnier of Texas; sisters and brother in law, Mary Jane & Elmer Weaver of Minster, Ohio and Elizabeth Haywood of West Milton, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Frank Amberger celebrant.  Burial will follow in the St. Remy Church Cemetery, Russia, Ohio.  Family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 3-8 PM as well as Tuesday morning from 9-10 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
