Norine Mae Baker

Norine Mae Baker, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2011, from congestive heart failure, a condition that put her in and out of the hospital several times over the past few months. She was a resident at Heartland of Greenville and was surrounded by members of her family and people who loved her when she went to her heavenly home.

Norine was a lifelong resident of Greenville and was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Baker and her parents, Oneta and Ora “Pete” Weaver, who ran a bicycle and small engine shop on Markwith Avenue. A former resident of Treaty Manor, Norine broke her hip and was moved to Heartland for rehabilitation. Her injury, however, was more severe than imagined and she became a permanent resident of Heartland in October 2006.

Norine is survived by one sister Orleta Duebner, her seven children, Larry R. Baker of Texas, Terry L Baker (& Judy Schneider) of Greenville, James D. Baker of Tipp City, Laque A. Stevens (& Bill Stevens) of Greenville, Jack R. Baker (& Marsha Baker) of Greenville, Manzaneita K. Ehlers (& Larry Braun) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and John A. Baker (& Sonya Baker) of Tipp City. In addition, Norine has 27 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

She will be sorely missed by her family and the many, many friends who knew her. The Baker family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Heartland for all the love, help and compassion they have shown Norine over the past several years.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in the Greenville-Union Cemetery next to her mother, father and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you please make a contribution to Hospice of Heartland so they can continue their great work with the terminally ill. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com
