William M. “Bill” Burton

William M. “Bill” Burton, age 78, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:40 P.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville surrounded by his family. Bill was born January 22, 1934 in Nancy, Kentucky, to the late Sylvester & Clarcie (Wood) Burton.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ann (Back) Burton whom he married June 27, 1987; sons & daughters-in-law, David & Desirae Burton of Raleigh, North Carolina and Billy & Marsha Burton of Huber Heights, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law, Ellen & Brett Milby of Lebanon, Ohio; step son & step daughter-in-law, William & Karen Conley of Oak Harbor, Washington; step daughters & step sons-in-law, Goldie & Pat Hoch of New Madison, Ohio, Zelda Riffell & Scott Morris of Eldorado, Missouri and Teresa & John Osterday of Arcanum, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and a brother & sister-in-law, Ronald D. & Barb Burton of Sidney, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Bill is also preceded in death by a step son, James Conley; grandson, Kyle Conley; brother, Junior Burton and a nephew, Christopher “Butch” Burton.

Bill served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1998 from Brownbridge in Troy with 16 years of service and formerly worked at Aerovent in Piqua for 16 years. Bill formerly served as a Cub Scout Leader for Troop #343 in Covington.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Dr. Fred Bernhard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or State of the Heart Hospice.
