Wehrley, Ann (Barga George)

Wehrley, Ann (Barga George), age 84, of Greenville, OH, formerly of Versailles, OH passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013.  Ann was born July 17, 1928 at the family homestead near Brock, the fifth child of Art and Carrie (Schwartz) Barga.  A graduate of Versailles schools, she married James P. George (who preceded her in death) and together they owned and operated Frenchie’s Restaurant in Versailles until 1980.  Ann moved to Greenville where she met and married Tim Wehrley.  She continued to work in the food and beverage business until age 80, next transferring her energy and enthusiasm to the Darke County Community Action Partnership where she volunteered. In February 2012 she received the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year award.  It was said that “Ann has a warm welcome smile to everyone that visits the clothing bank.  No one leaves without having made a friend through Ann Wehrley…. Ann’s energy, bubbling personality and happy demeanor brings a smile to the saddest of folks and melts the hardest of hearts.”  She retired from the clothing bank in December 2012, but continued to happily carry her 20lb handbag which contained a hammer, screwdriver, and shot glass among other things!

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Marvin, Richard, and Nelson Barga.  She is survived by husband Tim Wehrley; son Thomas J. (Tara) George of Troy; step daughters, Christine Roberts and family of Margate, FL., Jill DeVon and family of Lafayette, IN, and Madalyn Wehrley of Parrish, FL.; grandchildren, J. Tyler George of Troy, and Kathryn K. (Chris) Edwards and great granddaughter Georgie G. Edwards of Charleston, SC; brothers Norman (Edna) of Union City, IN; Thomas (Mary Lou) of Vandalia; sisters in law Eileen and Susie Barga both of Versailles.

A gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 4-7 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Richard Culp officiating.  Burial will take place in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to be given to State of the Heart Hospice or American Heart Association.  Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com
