Richard F. Sander

Richard F. Sander, age 90 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:15 P.M. Thursday May 2, 2013 in Rest Haven Nursing Home of Greenville, Ohio.  Richard was born December 17, 1922 in Greenville and the son of the late Fred W. and Minnie (Grote) Sander.

Richard farmed his entire life in the Greenville Township area.

He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and a lifetime very active member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville, having sung in the church choir for many years. Richard was also a member of the Darke County Farm Bureau and a Lifetime Member of the Greenville V.F.W. and American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Lester Sander.

Richard is survived by his wife K. Jean (Alberts) Sander of Greenville.  They were married May 6, 1944 and celebrating their 69th Anniversary on Monday.  Also by his children Richard D. (Carol) Sander, Carol (Bill) Hoop and James (Shelley) Sander all of Greenville.  Grandchildren Stephanie Sander Green, Douglass Hoop, Kimberly Hoop Fugett, Jon Sander and Nick Sander; great grandchildren Cole Hoop, Mariah Green, Chase Green, Blake Green, Clay Hoop, Sophia Green, Elsie Fugett and Tyler Fugett; sisters Pauline Willis and Thelma Marker both of Greenville and brother Duane (Doris) Sander also of Greenville.  There are numerous nieces and nephews as well.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday May 8, 2013 in the St. John Lutheran Church 7418 State Route 121-N Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. John Church Cemetery with Full Military Graveside Services conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville and on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the services in the church.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville.
