Gary E. Shepherd

Gary E. Shepherd, 74, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, May 3, 2013, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.
 
He was born, October 19, 1938 in Ansonia, son of the late Ralph and Amarilla (Halley) Shepherd. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Shepherd.
 
Gary was retired from Greenville High School where he had taught auto mechanics for several years. He had served on the Greenville Police Auxiliary and was a veteran of the US Army.
 
Gary was a member of the Eagles, Moose, and Masonic Lodge all in Greenville and American Legion in New Madison, of which he had served in many offices of the Eagles. He was also a member of the Rolling 50's Car Club, enjoyed square dancing, and helping his wife with her turquoise jewelry business.
 
Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Arlene B. (Reigle) Shepherd, whom he married July 7, 1961; sisters-in-laws, Charlene (Tom) Bergman and Betty Lou Shepherd; an uncle, Tom Shepherd; and nieces and nephews.
 
Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson.
 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. with the Eagles Lodge having a Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Cancer Association of Darke County.
