Sharon Kay (Thornburg) Dapore

Sharon Kay (Thornburg) Dapore, 70, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at 2:57 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 at Heartland in Hospice Care from complications after several surgeries and a 24 day stay in ICU at Good Samaritan Hospital. She spent her final days surrounded in love with family members and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thornburg, her mother, Mary (Fisher) Thornburg, her "mom", Reba Thornburg, and a grandson, Joseph "Baby Joey" Dapore.

Sharon is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Joseph Dapore; daughters, Sherry (Keith) Parker, Lori (Donald) Jones; son, Kevon (Brenda) Dapore; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Reba "Joyce" Moore; lifelong friend and "aunt", Ruby Cool; her constant companion of almost 10 years, Chel Li, her Papillion, and Braveheart, her cat.

Sharon was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She brought the meaning of "home" to life with her very loving and giving heart. She always thought of everyone else first, making sure not to miss any birthdays, anniversaries, or other life events within her circle of family and friends. There were never enough people to share the holidays with, especially at Easter and Christmas. Her family was her life and she cherished them completely.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 8, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5-7 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice.

The family would like to express special thanks to Melissa, our "Little Angel" and Holly Gump, who came to the other Nurse’s aides to help assist with Sharon, both from Good Samaritan, Sister Rosemary for her constant vigilance, Allison Hummel with Hospice for her genuine compassion for Sharon in her last hours, and all of those at Heartland who befriended her during her stay.

Condolences may be left for the family at www.oliverfloyd.com
