Arthur W. "Art" Olson

Arthur W. “Art” Olson, age 89 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:06 P.M. Monday July 14, 2014 at his residence in Greenville.  Art was born December 11, 1924 in Mahoning County Ohio and the son of the late Arthur S. and Gladys M. (Myers) Olson.

He was a licensed Insurance Agent starting the profession in 1976 and a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army.

Art was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, the Greenville Masonic Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1983, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton, Darke County Shrine Club, a former member of the Shrine Club Jeepsters, the Greenville Kiwanis Club and a 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Rosemary (Neff) Olson May 29, 1996 and a grandson Luke Garbig.

Art is survived by his immediate family: son and daughter in law Gregory J. & Maria Olson of Grove City, Ohio; daughter and son in law Melanie and Dennis Garbig of Perrysburg, Ohio; grandchildren Erik Olson, Kayle Olson, Daniel Garbig, Emily Garbig and Matthew Garbig; great granddaughter Alexandra Olson and many loving friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday July 18, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church 114 East Fourth Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. John Person officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and on Friday 1 hour prior to the services in the church.  A Masonic Memorial Services and a Scottish Rite Ring Degree will be held at 7:45 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Greenville Public Library 520 Sycamore Street Greenville, Ohio, 45331.
