Clarence "Doug" Garland

Clarence “Doug” Garland, age 67 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:33 P.M. Tuesday February 3, 2015 in the Kindred Hospital Dayton, Ohio.  Doug was born November 3, 1947 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of the late Everett and Lucy (Gray) Garland Sr.

He retired in 2010 from the Union City Body Company (Workhorse) where he had been employed for 40 years.  He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Greenville American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Bernice Rehmert.

Doug is survived by his daughters Valinda (Jerry) Hammons of Versailles, Ohio and Christine Francis of Jacksboro, Tennessee; grandchildren Shontee (Abrams) Chalfant, Devin Fryman, Jerry Hammons, Jesse (Amanda) Francis, Leland (Samantha) Francis, Terra (Travis) Kennedy, Brad C. Shaneyfelt and Daniel Francis; 12 great grandchildren; brothers William (Annette) Garland of Pine Island, Florida,  Everett (Arlene) Garland, of  Greenville and J.T. (Denise) Garland of Greenville; sister Jean (Ronald) Murphy of Greenville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday February 7, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Doug Klinsing officiating.   Burial will follow in the Miami Memorial Park Covington, Ohio where Military Honors will be conducted by the Versailles Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends on Friday February 6, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to either the Wounded Warriors Project or the Autism Society.
