Daryl D. Cerny

Daryl D. Cerny, age 87, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:33 P.M. on Monday, June 1, 2015 at his residence. Daryl was born November 8, 1927 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to the late Millie & Fern (Lake) Cerny.

Daryl is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Neil & Diane Cerny of Pearland, Texas and David & Julie Cerny of Crawfordsville, Indiana; grandchildren, B.J. & Sherry Terry, Christopher & Shannon Cerny, Jamie Rozenkranz, Jason Cerny, Jared Wilson, Jeff Terry, Melissa & Oscar Sanchez, and Robert & Toni Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Carol Duane Cerny of Nebraska; and sister, Fernola Stansbury of California.

In addition to his parents, Daryl was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris S. (Stolcpart) Cerny on December 2, 2011 whom he married May 23, 1951; and a sister, Twila Waterman.

Daryl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ball Corporation in Muncie, Indiana where he was a mechanical engineer for 26 years. Daryl was a member of the Greenville First Assembly of God and Erk Cottrell Post 140 American Legion. Daryl enjoyed photography, woodworking, rock hounding, computers, and was an avid reader.

A celebration of Daryl’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Greenville First Assembly of God 7219 St. Rt. 118 North Greenville with Pastor Dale Boeger officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. in the church fellowship hall, everyone’s welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
