Vernon Allison

Vernon Allison, age 87, was welcomed into heaven on August 10, by his Savior, Jesus Christ. He reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Alice (nee Seybert), his parents and sisters, and many friends and family members. He will be missed by his four children, Chris (Debi), Sandy (Paul), Myrrh (Jef), and Bob (Susan), twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as the friends left behind.

Vernon was a twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force where he served during the end of World War II as a member of the occupation forces in Japan. He was a member of the 339th Fighter Squadron and was crew chief of an F-61 fighter; he was an instructor through the years of the Korean War and Vietnam. Vernon spent another twenty-five years as an instructor with NCR.

He loved music, and sang in church choirs from childhood. He could fix nearly anything, and taught his children that they could do anything if they kept trying. He was generous and caring. He was never too busy to help family or friends, and always shared a smile and kind word in the process.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Jef Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com
