James R. Youngker

James R. Youngker, age 90, of Versailles passed from this earthly life to his heavenly reward on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at 9:44 A.M.

Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois; son and daughter, Steven Youngker of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Beverly Rhoades of Greenville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Youngker and spouse Elka of Coos Bay, Oregon, Stephanie Lewis and spouse Grant stationed at Fort Shafter in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Benjamin Rhoades stationed at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Damon Youngker of Englewood, Sage Eberwein of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Gavin Lewis of Wahiawa, Hawaii; 1 brother, Lester and spouse Pauline of Celina.

Jim was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Combat Veteran having served as a gunner and flight engineer on a B-24 in the Pacific Theater. Jim loved God, his family, his country, people and his community. It was Jim’s wish to thank his friends and the community of Versailles for their support, which was a strong, and the gracious honors they bestowed upon him.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care who worked tirelessly to ensure his comfort in his final weeks. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
