Rev. Richard Shockney

Rev. Richard Shockney, age 78 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Butler Township Dayton, Ohio passed away at 8:57 PM Monday August 14, 2017 at his residence.  Richard was born October 8, 1938 in Greenville and the son of the late Ralph and Sarah (Paul) Shockney.

He retired in December of 2016 as the Pastor at East Dayton Church of the Brethren, a position he held for the past 15 years.

Richard was a veteran serving in the US Air Force, an avid fisherman, former airplane pilot as well as a flight instructor and served the Brethren Retirement Community as a Volunteer Chaplain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Shockney.

Richard is survived by his wife Carolyn Kay (Smith) Shockney of Greenville.  They were married June 7, 1958.  Also children Lora J. Shockney of Greenville and Steven (Samantha Culbertson) Shockney of Warrenton, VA; grandchildren Aimee (Miles) Jaramillo-Lambert, Scott Seeley, Shannon Seeley, Brandon Shockney and Angelica (Tyler) Nelson; 6 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday August 19, 2017 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Bob Bitner officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 Noon until time of the services in the funeral home.

The Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct Full Military Honors at 2:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home.
