Dick L. Canan

Dick L. Canan, age 87 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:20 AM Friday December 22, 2017 at the Heartland Nursing Home of Greenville.  Dick was born October 24, 1930 in Greenville and the son of the late William H. and Mabel M. (Hollinger) Canan.

Dick had retired in 1994 from Hobart Brothers of Troy, Ohio where he had been employed for 39 years as a tool designer.    He was a member of the Greenville V.F.W. and American Legion, loved his dogs and was an accomplished woodcarver especially carving Santa’s.     He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Air Force from January 1951 until December of 1954.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou (Myers) Canan December 25, 2009.  They were married September 25, 1955.  Also 2 brothers William Canan Jr. and Jim Canan.

Dick is survived by his son and daughter in law Daniel R. and Melissa Canan of Greenville; brother Orville Canan of Centerville, Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday December 27, 2017 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Candy Null officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of the services in the funeral home.  The Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct Full Military Services at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home.

In Honor of Dick’s Military service and his love of his dogs the family would like Memorial Contributions be given to the Greenville American Legion or the US War Dog Memorial @ www.uswardogs.org.
