Joan Frances Daigle Nelson

Joan Frances Daigle Nelson age 80, of Greenville passed away at 5:20 AM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Brethren Retirement Community.
   
Joan was born April 26, 1937, in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Roch & Eleanor (Steele) Daigle. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.   
   
Joan is survived by her husband, Albert Nelson whom she married June 15, 1957; children, Karen Adams & Darren Willis of Springfield, Vicki & Tony Howard of Greenville, Richard W. Nelson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Ron & Amanda Nelson of New Madison; grandchildren, Cassie Reyes, Kelsey Adams, Amanda Rawson, Alexis Abernathy, Cohen Nelson, Olivia Nelson, Tyler Howard and Jason Howard; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wendy “June” Backer of Muskegon, Michigan and Jean Latch of Newaygo, Michigan; and numerous nieces  and nephews.
   
Joan was a retired legal secretary, formerly working at Hanes Law Group in Greenville. She volunteered for the Community Blood Bank when she lived in Oklahoma. Joan helped organize the bridge club at the Brethren Retirement Center.
   
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Doug Baker officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Greenville Township Memorial Garden at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the Cancer Association of Darke County.
